Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

Balloon Fiesta Park (South RV Lot, Box View, VIP West/East, VIP North, President's Compound) · Albuquerque, NM · Oct 3 to Oct 11, 2026

Dates given are the 2026 edition, October 3 to October 11, 2026, confirmed on the official Event Schedule page which lists Day 1 Saturday Oct. 3rd through Day 9 Sunday Oct. 11th. 2027 dates are NOT published anywhere on balloonfiesta.com as of this check. The RV page itself is stamped 'UPDATED Feb. 10, 2026' and the RV Rules PDF is marked 2026.

This has already opened. Check current availability with the event directly.

A single online-only timed drop that sells out. Official text: 'Reservations for 2026 open on January 28, 2026 at 9am MST' and 'Reservations are online-only and are individual reservations only.' As of the page's Feb. 10, 2026 update: 'RV sites for 2026 are sold out and the waitlist has been closed due to high demand.' The waitlist is automated, only appears once a lot is full, and is capped: 'The waitlist is automated and becomes available when a lot is full. There is a cap on the number of people that can be on the waitlist.' Staff explicitly will not book for you or add you to the waitlist by email. Three-night consecutive minimum, no single or two-night stays, no split reservations. Paid reservations do NOT roll over year to year ('*paid reservations are not rolled over to the following year*'), so there is no incumbent renewal advantage. Person-to-person transfers ARE allowed by emailing rvspace@balloonfiesta.com, with money changing hands directly between the two parties, but no transfers after September 15. Group reservations are closed: 'currently, we are not adding any additional groups.' AIBF has NOT announced a 2027 on-sale date; the page says only 'Keep an eye on this page for updates.' Practical read for a traveler: this is a set-your-alarm event, and if you miss the drop the only remaining paths are the capped automated waitlist or a private transfer from an existing holder.

Timed on-sale
Hookups
mixed, and four of the five lots are DRY at a premium price. Standard ($60/night), Box View ($70/night), VIP West/East ($130/night) and VIP North ($130/night) are all explicitly 'dry camping' with no electric, no water and no sewer. Only the President's Compound ($300/night) has hookups: '50 Amp, water and dump, overlooking the launch field' and '50amp hook-ups, water and pumping located on a bluff overlooking the Launch Field.' Corroborating detail from the official rules PDF: 'Electric water heaters are allowed only in President's Compound. Please use propane water heaters in all other lots.' There is NO dump station on site for the dry lots: 'Is there a dump station? No, however, we have an on-site pumping service.' Third-party AAA Pumping Service sells water fills at $50 each and waste pumping at $50 each, passes bought at each lot's check-in tent. The only arrival-time water access in the dry lots is at the Standard lot. There are no showers anywhere on site: 'We do not have a shower station or a place to shower.' Portable toilets are provided in each lot. Power fluctuations are acknowledged even where power exists, and AIBF recommends an RV surge protector.Premium price, no services. Plan fresh water, generator hours and a pump-out.
Price
$60 to $300 per night
Rig limits
No stated maximum RV length, but space dimensions are the real constraint: 'Most of our spaces are 20 feet in width and 55 feet in depth. There are a few in each lot that are a slightly smaller due to the lots being temporary.' Tow vehicle must be disconnected before you reach the reservation booth. Each space gets one tow/toad placard; up to two additional placards at $30 each. Once parked, the RV must remain parked until check out. GENERATORS: allowed, 'No louder than 80 decibels,' all external generators must be 2 feet off the ground, no construction generators, exhaust aimed away from neighbors, quiet hours 10:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. with no generator use in that window. AIBF explicitly refuses a CPAP exemption to quiet hours and tells guests to bring a battery bank. NO tents or tent camping in any RV lot. NO campfires, bonfires or propane fire pits (Albuquerque Fire Rescue rule); violation means removal without refund. NO charcoal grills; propane and pellet grills allowed and must be 2 feet off the ground. No smoking in any RV lot. No personal golf carts or ATVs. No drones. Pets allowed on leash in the lots but NOT inside Balloon Fiesta Park. Fire lanes must stay clear or vehicles are towed. Ground is uneven: 'We are a temporary facility set in place prior to the event opening and spaces may be unlevel.'
Eligibility
None. No membership, club or prior-year requirement. Open to the general public, online, individual reservations only. The structural gates are that group bookings are currently closed and there is a three-night consecutive minimum.
Worth knowing
PARKING IS RALLY STYLE, WHICH IS THE BIGGEST SURPRISE FOR FIRST-TIMERS. Official rules PDF: 'All parking, with the exception of President's Compound, is rally-style (first come, first served).' You buy a lot type, not a specific space, and AIBF parks you as you arrive at its own discretion. To camp beside friends you must physically arrive together; holding spaces is prohibited. President's Compound is the only lot exempt from rally-style placement. RV PARKING HOURS 2026 (official rules PDF): Sept. 28 - Oct. 2, 8:00 a.m. - 6:45 p.m.; Oct. 3-9, 12:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.; those in line at 6:45 checked in until 7:00; no parking after 7:00 p.m., late arrivals staged overnight and parked next morning. Morning check-out 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. No check-in or check-out during flight operations, meaning if balloons are in the sky nothing moves. Arrive before 3 p.m. on two-session days. TICKETS ARE SEPARATE for the cheaper lots: Standard and Box View include NO admission tickets; VIP West/East and VIP North include 2 general admission tickets per session per day; President's Compound includes 4 per session per day. General admission is $20 for 13+, free under 13, and never sells out. VIP North warning is on the official page: fireworks are northwest of that lot and can be loud for pets and children. Free shuttle service runs for the South RV lot with four stops across Standard, Box View and Premium lots. CANCELLATION: through July 14, refund less a $50 fee for President's Compound and $30 for all other lots; July 15 to Aug 31, 50% refund; from September 1, no refunds. All changes go through rvspace@balloonfiesta.com. Separate non-RV on-site options are sold on their own pages: Camp 505 (https://www.balloonfiesta.com/camp-505/) and Glamping (https://www.balloonfiesta.com/glamping/). Lat/lon is an approximate Balloon Fiesta Park launch-field centroid and was NOT published on an official page; the official mailing address given is 4401 Alameda Boulevard N.E., Albuquerque, NM 87113. Minor internal conflict in official copy, flagged rather than resolved: the FAQ says the 50% refund window ends 'August 3' while the pricing section says 'August 31'.
